Repeated dose toxicity study is to characterize the adverse toxicological effects occurring as a result of repeated dosing with a substance to the test species. Effects include changes in morphology, physiology, life span, clinical chemistry and behavior. The studies can provide information including the toxicity to specific target organs, the dose-response relationship and reversibility/irreversibility of the effect.
